AKF Karate

The Winter Session grading (Shinsa) will be held during classes on April 21 and 23, depending on whether you are a Monday or Wednesday student. If you are unable to attend the grading appropriate to your class, then alternate arrangements will be made to grade on another day. 

Students will be notified by their Sensei whether they are ready for grading this term. The grading is determined on a student’s attitude, effort, progress in karate skills, and attendance over the entire term. 50% attendance is considered the minimum for grading. As karateka move up to the higher belt rankings, the time between gradings increases such that a grading does not occur after every term. Your Sensei will discuss grading requirements and details with each karateka prior to the grading whenever possible.

Little Dragons have a Striped Belt Progression unique to their age group: white to stripe-yellow to stripe-orange to stripe-green, etc. 

The normal rate of progression for Children and Youth is: white to white-stripe, to yellow to yellow-stripe to orange, etc. 

Adults progress through solid coloured belts.

We hope that you enjoy learning karate as much as we enjoy teaching it, and we hope that you will continue training with us in the Fall Term.
